Just out of curiosity... say I have a web hosting company that I want in the Google top 10. You've already got another customer into the top 10... so, would you try to put both of us in the top 10, or ignore the other company or ??? It's something I've always wondered about moral dilemnas, conflict of interest, drama drama, lol
I will not rank the same keyword for multiple customers. In the case of the client who I ranked in top 10, he stopped SEO work and eventually lost his rankings after a year.
I will not do SEO for adult/offensive sites. I would do SEO work for a credible poker site; however, I won't work for anyone who spams.
Can you guarantee rank? I have no idea about the SEO industry so I don't know if it is standard. I have a few sites I would be interested in getting this for.

Nobody can guarntee a ranking unless its such a crappy keyword it wouldnt matter. if they do, watch out.
I do guarantee my work. My monthly rate depends on the competitiveness of the keywords I'm trying to rank, but generally I charge between $500/month-$2000/month. I only go after major industry keywords, which tend to be competitive. If you need specific examples of my current rankings or a custom quote just send me a PM. I know what it takes to rank competitive keywords in the major search engines; however, it's unrealistic to try to rank an extremely competitive keyword for a few hundred dollars.
Sounds weird. All I have ever seen people say since I joined here and other webmaster forums is "If they guarantee a specific ranking, they're no good". No now that saying is just burned into my brain =x
Anyone with for years experience in SEO knows what it takes to get keywords to the top of search engines.So if guarantees are given from such a person, they must be pretty good. Really, it's all about how much you're prepared to pay someone to spend the necessary time on the job, since there are few shortcuts on the way to top rankings for competitive terms.

You are exactly right Rod. SEO isn't magic. Ranking high in the major search engines isn't luck. I'm not claiming to know the secret behind Google's algo. I'm not an ex google employee; however, after 4 years of experience with search engine optimization, I know what is required to rank high. Knowing how to get there sets me apart from others.
