Which SEO seminars are worth the $$? The ones that teach you something so radical it produces results. There seems to be a growing number of them and there not cheap to attend. Anyone have any opinions on them?

    SES
    SEO Class
    SEO Days

To name a few. Any comments on these and others?

I don't think they teach anything that I can't learn in these forums. I go to Search Engine Strategies Conference every year and they discuss and debate the same things we do here, they just quote fancy numbers.

SEO is not rocket science and no one has the google algo.

How many people are at the SES conferences usually? Is there much 1 on 1 interaction?

I highly recommend going to SES at least once every 2 years. It's great...and networking is an important aspect. If you've never been, you'll learn something new for sure.

I am still curious what is the typical turnout at an SES conference?

    500+ people?

SES New York last year was 6,000.... it was absolutely packed. I think SES San Jose was about that as well, but bigger venue and session rooms so it doesn't seem as crowded. SES Chicago is a bit smaller (still wondering who thought Chicago in December was a good idea, LOL) but still in the thousands. Even PubCon is up over a thousand.

so to me it almost seems like SES is really for networking vs. these smaller seo classes that have popped lately SEO class and seo days would be something more beneficial if you were actually trying to learn something.

I would have one helluva time justifying the cost on most of them personally. It's a good chunk of change to 'go drinking with the Boys'.

From the other side of the coin, charging SEO wanna be's and corporate blues with too much marketing cash laying around a whxk of cash sounds absolutly brilliant!!

So here's to seminars, and the hope that one day I can also take folks cash!!!

SES new york is packed, thousands of people. A lot of and advertisers and companies pitching their products and services.

I attend cause I get to chat with Matt Cutts and some others from Google.

Here are the big topics for this year.

    * How search engines list web sites for free and through paid placements
    * How to get free "organic" traffic by building a site that pleases search engines and your visitors
    * How to efficiently purchase listings guaranteed to rank your company at the top of search engine results
    * How to calculate the roi of your search marketing efforts by tracking your visitors from the time they hit your site until they buy—and get tips on improving conversion if they don't!
    * How to build links that generate traffic to your web site, and how to avoid the penalties of "spamming" the search engines
    * What's coming next in the constantly evolving world of web search, and how you can profit from those changes

I mean come on guys, don't we discuss this here everyday? Its expensive too last year it was $260. Thankfully I don't pay, one of my employers do. I think there is a free pass but you only have access to the advertisers

I agree 3g's is a lot of $$. Justifying a cost like that to my boss isn't going to be easy.
