Have your friend contact the BBB. They are listed there.

Maybe they got out of the SEO biz...this company appears to employ the owner of the seo company you posted about, and, shares the same address.

"Potential Traffic Increase?" when I read that phrase right there I realized this is indeed an seo ripoff. Man, for 2400 bucks you better guarantee explosive traffic results! Where do these stupid seo companies get off thinking they can "potentially" get you lots of traffic with the prices they are asking? Are you kidding.

And she says she only optimizes five pages? That is easy and simple. They should do far more than that.

This is just another perfect example of what makes me angry about the internet and the world in general. Pieces of trash like these guys charge an arm and a leg to sit back and do little real work on your site.

Then when someone like me tries offer a service way cheaper than that crap above, no one is interested. I can hardly get affiliate sells?

    Really.

It's not like any of what any of them are going to do is rocket science, as much as some of those who make their living at it might want you to think otherwise...

it doesn't seems to me that she is trying to give the best value for the money she is getting . I think every SEO company must help the website he optimize in a maximum way, offcourse everything should be under a contract, BUT to make it worth for the site-owner it must give (or try his best) results that will raise the site up and bring back the money in other way.

    Otherwise, It's not worth it.

When I hear how she talks, she is not into the costomer's mind and she is not offering anything that will help him jump forward... I think this is the problem. If they agreed before - so I don't think it's a RIP off. I am talking in the legal way. In the ethical prespective I think it is...:(

I think the most slimy of the weasel words in the original offer is not the use of "potentially"- that is fair, I think. What is actually true evil is the ungrammatical use of "of the" in the sentence

"Listing in the Top 20 of the major search engines"
(implying in the top 20 search results for your keyword)

when clearly what she means is

"Listing in the Top 20 major search engines".

Deliberate and vile. Pehaps even actionable? (IANAL).

You/ your friend got scammed really bad, there's nothing you can do about it and there's a very small chance you'll see the money back.

There's only one thing left to do; stalk them :D

Send fake interesting emails to the company telling them you're interested, phone them, fax them, spam their email address everywhere, have their account suspended by their host, send car tires and dead animals to their homes, have their site put on linkfarms to have them banned, click their ads on google about 100 000 times, anything you can think of!

Well, there's also always Shawn's preferred method of retaliation:

    1. Hunt them down.
    2. Stab them.
    3. Steal their beer.
    4. Stab them again.
    5. Make yourself a Hungarian salami and swiss on rye. Ask them if they have any sauerkraut to go with it. If they say no, stab them again. Have another beer with the sandwich.
    6. Stab them again.
    7. Then warn them that if they ever do it again, you'll be back for more.
    8. Leave.
    9. Come back to stab them one more time. Warn them that next time there had better be some decent sauerkraut in the house.
    10. Swipe some more beer and salami.
    11. Leave after giving them the frowning of a lifetime.

No offense man, but common sense should tell you from the get go $2400 dollars is very cheap for a years of SEO services hell our cheapest campaign runs at $2500 per month, and as far as guaranteed results I don't think so which granted some SEO can give you an idea of what your traffic will be like SEOs that know what there doing, but then again they won't give you no accurate measurement, but they probably have an idea in there head.

So 1. Don't ever go with someone if there charging 2500 a year thats just common sense. I mean think of it what type of money will you make off 2500 dollars? Next to none.

    2. You should be weary when she said 250 visitors per day from search engines with then 60-90 days not possible unless you did some major link building and I don't see that happening with 300-500 dollars per month no way in hell.

    3. A good campaign is going to run you at least $2500 per month if you want serious ROI results.
