With all the SEO services being offered on DP I'm curious what type of reports will be presented to us if we do purchase one of these services? What do some of the reports show that you have purchased or present to your customers? Does it include screenshots or only data? I would assume it shows the following... Past & present visitors, top keywords, SERP, landing pages, exiting pages. Is there anything in the report not listed that should or would be included? Thanks for your help with this!
Many of the people at DP would run your website through a software (like IPB) and give you the outputted report. I don't find the reports very useful so don't use them myself.
Thanks for the reply! Sorry for my ignorance, but what exactly is (IPB)? Are there any other places that will run reports like that?
I provide analysis of your metrics(analytics). There is a report involved at the onset of work to aid in setting milestones and things of that nature as well. What we do is largely based on the demographic as well. For instance, if you are running an e-commerce site we would set up funnels to track various on page activities to make sure you are not loosing folks during the checkout process. I have to agree with the above poster. SEO software is junk and the reports are quite frankly useless. hope that helps, Nigel
I meant IBP, not IPB - Google it. What Nigel Lew said is more what you'd expect from a good SEO. Setting up goal tracking in Google analytics and working on increasing goals is good.
IBP is IBusiness Promoter. Spits out a huge professional looking report in minutes. Concerntrates mainly on On Page SEO. Cheers Damian
We use IBP on all new client sites because of the reports. It sets up the base line and gives the basic suggestion of what will be needed. The Top 10 Comparison Report is the best customer report to create. It will tell the client what is needed for the On-Page SEO requirements. Although I don't agree with some of the assumptions, it will show the client that their web site will need to be altered. It has internal ranking checks, etc. But the keyword research part is poor. If you are targeting Google, then you should use Google's Adword Keyword Tool. You will also need to look at linking, submissions, blogs, etc. And you need to consider Adwords Pay-Per-Click and AdSense. Competitive SEO is the sum of all the elements and how they feed or enhance to others. And SEO needs real experience and 6 - 12 months of time and budget.
I use IBP as well as several other softwares and a hand written analysis and combine it into quite a large report for people. But I meet with almost all my clients face to face.
IBP is for sure is a good tool and can be used to make a start, as in the initial phases while you are interacting with the client to close a deal. However with regards to periodic reports, it should be more towards analysis than raw data. Raw data do not tell much on their own. A proper analysis done using human intelligence and experience will bring out pointers and indicators which can be used to gain insight. Corrective actions should be based on such analysis and not just guesstimate. As Nigel said, funnel conversion analysis is essential for ecommerce websites as it will help you to identify pages that are possibly acting as deterrents in the conversion process. So apart from listing activities, SEO reports should also have a in depth analysis of data collected from analytics.
