i suggest you to try 302 redirect.

just make google search with 302 redirect

 

When I use a 301 permananent redirect,

the spiders will index it as http://example.com or http://forums.example.com or both.

Coz i want it to be indexed as http://forums.example.com since I am creating some content at the http://example.com and my forum is already up and running.
