Search engine submission is worthless because the search engines will find you anyway! Just build links into your page and also submit a sitemap to Google in your webmaster tools. Then submit your sitemap to Yahoo through the Yahoo explorer.

    Search engine submission
Dont consider it to be worth less.... Submit in the list of all the google data centers around the world.
It is a part of all SEO major campaigns... So if you are looking to fully optimize your website follow the SE submission as a part of your SEO task....

i am also in favor that search engine submission in beneficial for seo work. We should submit atleast into popular 50 search engines. It will enable better crawling and more fast indexing of our website.

SEO is a very long process. You can't get high traffic on your targeted keywords with in 15 days........

write quality content for your site, link it with related website

I agree with you, also just giving your site 3 links from 3 different indexed sites will get your site indexed

@saratrooper. Hi, i've been wondering for a while now - what are "google data centers"?

And regarding the original question asked, I got indexed by Google in three days and I didn't submit my site to them - all I did was write some content and then get a link from a friend. However, I am having lots of problems getting indexed by Yahoo even though I have this and other links to my site and have submitted it to them too. Perhaps I should submit my sitemap to Yahoo too then!

Guys, I need to tell you Search engine submission is not totally useless. In the case of google using webmaster tools to submit your sitemap is a wise idea as it ensured what google has on you is accurate.

For all new sites, Google recommends to submit it to them - ONCE. And then use the Google Webmaster Tools from then on.

Both MSN and Yahoo do the same.

Links to these services can be found at http://www.catanich.com/search-engine-submission.asp (bottom of page).

Target keywords that are REALISTIC to rank for. After you've gotten those down, then focus on the more competitive key words.
