Hey guys I have a Jokes website. The index page title is "Jokespot - Free Funny jokes and pictures online"... There the internal pages contains categories like "Animals jokes" ... "Computer jokes" etc... so the category pages title are like this- Jokespot- Free Funny jokes and pictures - Computer Jokes" Now notice the "Jokes" word appearing twice.... is this wrong or can it get me banned by google for doing this.... please drop some advices. regards aditya
I'd even drop the name of the site altogether. I doubt people are searching for that. At the very least your title should read, "Free funny jokes and funny pictures from Jokespot" Drop the online too unless you're targeting that as a keyword. You won't get penalised for repeating a word as long as it's within reason.
That isn't the biggest problem. I would worry about this: 'Jokespot- Free Funny jokes and pictures' being in every title tag. If the page has little content and or backlinks you can expect your pages to go supplemental more likely. Try and make each title tag unique.
Wont it be better to completely remove site title from internal pages.. like the homepage be "Jokespot - Free funny jokes anf pictures" and internal pages title be simply the category names like "Computer Jokes" or "Business Jokes" .. BTW my site is in my signature.
With so much duplication in your titles, you're likely to have all those pages end up in Google's supplemental index ("Google Hell").
Having the same keyword in your title twice will not get you banned. Keyword stuffing refers to stuffing the content of your site.
You can keep it. The Jokester contains the word joke which could still be a factor so I'd rather keep it not much for SEO but to build your brand.
