SEO quality control

    Hello everyone,

I was planning to request the services of a freelance SEO specialist. I want to hire someone to work on my website, rank it for my target keywords, perform back-link building and essentially carry out every thing that would help my website appear in the first page of Google search results. Only after the said freelancer accomplishes my requirements will I be releasing payment.

However, since I am not an expert in SEO and its nuances, I am having doubts as to whether seeing my site on first page is an indication of a successful SEO campaign. I saw others in a similar positions as mine requesting regular, even daily reports from their contractors, which implies that one needs to have some degree of SEO knowledge to verify any improvement the contractor claims.

I've also heard things like black hat techniques that unscrupulous self-proclaimed SEO experts resort to, to which unwitting individuals may fall prey.

Hence, in your opinion, what "quality control" measures would someone from non-SEO background like me employ to circumvent any issues that may arise. When can I say: alright, my site is well optimized ? What tools would you recommend (Google Analytics maybe?)?

    Thanks

Best bet it to learn a little and do some SEO yourself. That way you get a feel for what whoever you hire is actually doing for you.

A physical address listed on the website An address says to both Google and your visitors “I’m not some punk in my parent’s basement who’s trying to make a quick buck.” Even if you are a punk living in your parent’s basement, at last hide that fact by paying the small monthly fee for a Suite/POBox address.
