Yes, this is possible if you hire a team or use link building software then you can outrank your competitor.
You must hire some seo professional.. And about backlinks, it dont depend on just number of backlinks, it will depend on number of quality backlinks to get rank in Google.
Yes you can get 1st position. please don't focus fully on back-links, Do some following things. 1. You have Good SEO On-page that's why you r on 3-4 position on google. you just need few things more in off-page. 2. Content Marketing on Trusted websites. 3. Guest blogging (for your current status : Do 2-3 guest blogging weekly.) 4. Do....Social Media Optimization (that will increase your clicks not ranking) 5. Try to do Squidoo & hubpages content promotion. 6. keep blogging with rel="nofollow" links 7. Remove all 404 pages from server or handled it well. 8. Do Press release to increase traffic. 9 Most important : Keep doing Social Bookmarking on Daily basis on these website only : (Digg, Delicious, Reddit, folkd, Diggo, twitter, slashdot ) Thanks ..keep doing good SEO for your User & Customer.
Use these tricks in Off page seo: Article Submission (Particular article would be created and published for particular submission only) Blog Creation (Don't use keywords in blog, It should look user friendly (For Instance: https://kevinsmithfreelancer.wordpress.com)) Press Release Submission (prlog.org and prweb.com are the best option) Blog commenting (Use only quality blogs for blog commenting don't use instant approval blogs. It can hurt your rankings) Forum Posting Some Business Websites: agencyspotter.com fixr.com softtrix.com tupalo.com expressbusinessdirectory.com brownbook.net driveat.com rateitall.com angel.co
My question to you will be, 1. Are you looking to be number 1 for the searched term on Google or you are looking to make more revenue for your website? Everyone has a little misconception that if you're having number 1 position on Google for a searched term you will be making more money compared to the ones which are 2nd and 3rd. You might be getting few thousand visits per day but what is the point being on the 1st if you don't make any conversion. I have encountered websites who rank 3rd or 4th for a searched term make more money compare to the first. First of all you need to remember the fundamentals of marketing and customer acquisition. If you provide more quality for your potential customers definitely you will be their ultimate choice disregarding which position within the first page you rank. If you start providing value for your online visitors sooner or later Google will definitely position you at the top of the search engine. The more user friendly your website is the higher you will rank within the search engine. You should be fully focusing on providing outstanding solution through content for your customers rather thank fully focusing on building links. Develop epic content which creates a buzz within your niche. Promote your content across different social media platforms. Convert your article into an eBook, video or podcast and share them on respected platforms. In this way you will start making more business. Keep your content/ backlink ratio to 80/20. You will definitely witness great changes. I hope it helps! Thanks
It's not about the number of backlinks but quality of those backlinks pointing towards your website. I have seen cases when a domain with few thousand links was ranking on 7th position while my client's website having ONLY 33 backlinks was on 3rd position.
Is your competitors website a branded one?? Anyway, being on the 3rd or 4th spot isn't that bad actually because you are still on the first page. However, the flow of your traffic and conversion goal is important. You have to make it sense that your on the first page and take advantage of it. I suggest that you continue what you are doing. If you think you need your off page optimization more then do content marketing like document sharing, article submission, guest posting (once in a while) etc. And also, don't forget to take advantage of free social media sites and blogging, they work well effectively. Video creation and infographics if applicable. Though you must remember that quality and relevancy will bring you to the top. Whether it is nofollow or dofollow.
Yes, it's possible if his backlinks will be high quality & thematic. Remember Google always give preference to Quality not Quantity.
