Hi, Got a question about optimizing for location specific keyword searches. Every big city has a lot of suburbs. Needless to say the goal is to rank as high as possible for keywords + big city. What about the suburb cities and counties? I have seen some web sites put a long list of suburb city names near the bottom of the home page. Is this a good strategy or is this borderline spamming? Also seen sites that have stuffed a lot of city names in their meta tags. Is it a better way to optimize for these smaller city names on separate pages? Love to hear your insight and experience.
You should create different web pages for different cities and link to it from your home page. Then you should focus on building backlinks for the inner pages so they will rank well in the search engine.
