I'm helping a freind of mine work on his site. For the past 5 years the page titles have all been the same...the urls full of session ID's and NO metas at all. I just got through doing a static re-write mod and a few other modifications. I need you guys to tell me what else I need to do to help a freind out?

    • Are all the meta tags for every page properly filled in now?
    • Do you have appropriate header tags on each page?
    • Do you have good lengthy descriptions of all the products?
    • Do you have deep links to each product page with appropriate anchor texts?

If it's the cartpartsplus site on your signature I'd suggest changing the URL in the breadcrumbs for Home from index.html to the base URL.

We are getting all those filled out. I have looked into the breadcumb trail I just haven't had time to change it. I will definatly do that.

I didn't use Cdynamic meta tags I used Header Tag Controller. I fealt I have more control over the tags. I also Used SEO-G for the re-writes. You get a session ID on the first page but it goes away on the second click. Is that normal? I had SEO-G installed 1 day and already have most of the new pages indexed by google...Problem is I didn't have the meta tag mod installed so most of this indexed pages have the same title. I need to figure out where I need to put <h1> and <h2> tags,,,the bread crumb trail and a few other things.

I think SEO-G removed session ID's...at least I hope so. Are session ID's still showing up?

Thanks for the replies. Always welcome more suggestions.

On a side note. I also made a few mods to the forum on that site and placed it in a sub-domain. But before I redirected traffic I made sure all the links pointing to his products were nice descriptive anchor text links.

i think the idea with the sid's are that they are only removed for bots not visitors so if G is indexing your site and caching pages with sids you know its working. to verify you can check your server logs.

I didn't think about checking for those but your right. No SID's so far as I can tell in recently cached pages.

Does anyone know of a good sitemap generator script? The server we are on has lots of things blocked so I may be forced to use an online generator.

Thanks for the link. I will give that a shot. I finally got <h1> tags in and made a few other tweaks. The results are amazing...some of the search terms are getting listed before the competitors. The site really needs a complete makeover. I would like to find a web 2.0 ish template but I havent seen any around that I like. Looks like I will have to pay for a custom template.
