Is it possible to do seo on a site which mainly contains things like forms and images, banner etc and not exactly the content that is visible to the user. What are the chances to be sucessful doing seo on these sort of sites.
you can be very succesfull. you can for instance optimize to get visitors from Google Image search... actually, don't underestimate the power of links to your site and the anchor texts... you can rank #1 for words you don't even have on your website.....
Trying to be successful with SEO on a single page website is like trying to win a marathon by hopping on one leg. Search engines want sites with lots of content.
Wrong You need good links you don't need much content to get listed I am #9 on Google for SEO books with just a few lines of text I think this is a competative search looking for a developer to help with site I have had #1 spots with just 2 lines of text
It is tough to optimize well for a one page site, especially if it is mostly images. It can be done though My site has mostly pictures, but I have a bunch of top 10 keywords, and I have most of my pictures indexed, due to using ALT Text, good links, and on-page optimization.
The primary reason you list so high for Google is that SEOBooks is your domain name. Do a search for "environmental chemistry" and you will find that my site commands the #1 position for the same reason. What I stated is still true. For the average website it is very hard to reliably get to the top of the serps on a single page website. Even if inbound links are the most important factor, it is nearly impossible to "naturally" build back links to a site with only one page as there is little to no content worth linking to. Most people do not have the ability to get a boat load of inbound links without spending a boatload of money.
Most people do not have the ability to get a boat load of inbound links without spending a boatload of money. I like this phrase! Really. As I got no boat loaded with money.
I didn't see your site in the first 100 for Google. AND Yahoo only shows 5 BL AND Google shows 0...When exactly was it #9?
I did search for seo book. Its showing as #19 for plural for me. Interesting especially since Yahoo and MSN are only showing 5 BL.
I dont know how far its possible, but I am currently working on some subdomains which are having just single page.. If I am getting some outputs I will surely let you people know
i agree with KLB. Trying to rank high in the SERPS with a one page site is putting yourself at a major disadvantage.
Yes, it is possible, of course anything is possible, however... You need to think less like a person and more like a computer. A google algorithm computer to be precise (yes I know there are other SE's out there but this is the main one I'm talking about here). Google's actual mission (apart from the buckets o' money) is "to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful." So their job as they see it, is to provide global information that is both useful (relevant, reliable) and easily (quick, concise, without interference) obtainable. ergo the birth of page rank in an effort to better their "useful" part of their statement. So whilst I believe page rank does not directly affect your SERP it is a measure or yardstick that can in fact be used to quickly calculate how valued other sites see you... so how else can they (the google algorithm) quickly, consistently and reliably (easily & useful; back to the mission statement) provide this information?... keyword density. Google is then able to calculate how closely your keyword density matches that of the actual search criteria. It's almost like a recipe, the 10 secret herbs and spices of google. <hops of soap box>... So yes, you can do it. I have one site I look after; a single page site, which has 130 words, five images and a form, it ranks 5th for it's keywords, well it did, I just checked and it's rocketed off the top 10... clients been playing arhh!!! Anyway yes, it is possible, just work within the guidelines, and start with an obtainable keyword ie not mortgage finder or student loads
SEO is not just about relying on one keyword. Sure you can get 1 top listing with a one page site but what if you lose that listing in an algo update? You lose all of your traffic. Its impossible to target the long tail without multiple pages.
I agree with KLB. If you have 2 guys with same level of SEO knowledge and one have 1-page site, and other one site with lot of pages and content (unique), it's obvious, that the second guy will make better results in shorter time... Best regards, Ivan
It can get good results if you make quality links efficiently and landing page describe your service and your products to attract visitors. It help to increase your website traffic and reputation in google.
