SEO - Links and Anchor Text

    Say I am trying to rank better for the term "How to french kiss"

    As far as SERP's can I build my links with the anchor text "French Kiss" or do I need to have "How to french kiss" in my anchor text?

    The actual phrase that you want to rank for in search results is the best to use.

    Vary the phrase for the best results. Dont use the same one everywhere.

    You can use the same phrase everywhere as long as they are from relevant websites, generally you generate natural backlinks anyways to counter having to many same anchor text backlinks.

    Agree with aaron_nimocks. Think about how would your anchor text look like if people have linked to you. Surely the links won't have the same anchor text. Still, use the anchor text with your exact keyword most.

    i would go for a breakdown something like

    70% "how to french kiss"

    20% "french kissing"

    10% random variations "guide to kissing", "kissing the french way", "how the french kiss" kissing french style" ..etc.

    I agree, I will do the same, if you want to rank high on "how to french kiss" you should focus more on it..

    I am french so very interested in this post :)
    I would do something like SEOibiza recommended. It looks like the most efficient way to not miss out on traffic by targetting only "How to french kiss"
