Hi, I'd really like to find a great SEM provider I can work with on multiple projects, but the difficult thing is finding a competent, trustworthy provider who'll consistently do quality work. I have past experience of paying a considerable amount for SEO with absolutely no real results whatsoever and I can't afford to be burnt again, so I'd really like to learn about SEM companies who will work based on results. For example 2 scenarios: A. A client has a brand-new travel domain, design and some original content, so they want to pay someone to get 200 uniques/day over 4 months. B. A client has a 1-year old finance domain, 100 uniques/day, and wants to develop the site to 400 uniques/day over 6 months. I understand it's impossible to guarantee results, but results are what people look for when they pay money to providers so it seems only fair for a competent SEO to have at least some kind of results-based work. I'd really like to hear from quality providers who work for real results so please send me a PM if you do this kind of thing, thanks for reading, Regards, Jeremy
Its unlikely that anybody will guarantee results (myself included) but you should be able to arrange some kind of performance bonus with your SEO. I would be interested in something like this, PM me with the url's and I will let you know. From the details given your targets sound achievable.
Sounds interesting. The new domain will be difficult, anyone that tells you otherwise is probably going to disappoint you. As it's a new domain it'll take 6-9 months to get it into google so I'd advise working off a longer timeframe for that domain. 200 *may* be achieveable from MSN and Yahoo though depending on the keywords that are targeted. The second dmain targets should be entirely achievable though.
Certainly a half in half type of contract would be the best way of going about it. It takes so long to actually notice the results of SEO work that it would be difficult for a company to avoid cashflow problems and quite often the SEO company are not in charge of the actual website content. Changes made to the content of the website may have a detremental effect to the income received through the website. Often you'll just have to go by the SEO consultants previous history. Ask for some references etc and you'll be fine. The biggest problem that as soon as an SEO realises they're good the prices increase exponentially as they know they'll make people a lot more money.
As others have said - it is possible. For example I drive around 3-500 visitors per day to a clients website and charge him per unique, approx 40% of what it would cost using Adwords so we both win.
Hi, hope I'm not hijacking the thread but wondered how to go about raising the numbers of uniques for a newish site (launched March) to a few hundred a day? Any tips/offers welcomed, thanks. Site is Spanish Real Estate.
Thats a pretty cool way of doing it. It's something that could be tampered with though so might put some people off. I had a contract with 1 client where I got a commission of each sale. It's not good for the SEO guy though as all the work you do will give the owner results for years whereas the SEO guy only gets so much within the timeframe of the contract.
The problem is that you are looking to employ an SEO to raise the profile of your site rather than an affiliate who can pass traffic to you for a commission. As a site owner you want a long term solution I expect. If you pay somebody to act like an affiliate then once the contract is over then your traffic turns off. The other option of course is to start an affiliate program and do it that way.
Hi, Thanks for all the replies, it's good to see the UK crew here as I'm from Scotland myself but live way out in South Korea. The 50/50 idea is very much what I'm looking for, with a fixed fee guaranteed plus an agreed on bonus for results achieved. I understand about new domains, personally I've never yet had this problem but when I have a website idea I do sometimes buy the domain name and add a few pages, so if I want to develop it further the waiting period is already over. I've driven sites to the top 5 out of 480,000,000 results before, so I know what it takes to build a good website and I'm itching to get back to making great content-based sites. I probably don't quite have the budget to hire UK SEOs just yet, but I may well send a few PMs when I do as I'd love to work try working with some of you. Cheers, Jeremy
