    I dont think google will take such a step because if they do that then their competitor search engines like yahoo, bing will benefit greatly from it.

    SEO will always be around in one form or another. What ever algorithm Google use to determine search rankings there always is going to be sites that rank no.1 and in similar high ranking positions. It is just down to someone skilled in SEO to constantly adapt and adjust to the latest SEO methods.
