I wanted to share a paraphrased quote from a mentor of mine. I hope it provides some value to readers of this forum.
    -------------------
The Search Engines are getting more and more sophisticated and Google is increasingly using human detection to aid in cleaning up results. In other words, trying to cut corners and game the Search Engines is not a long term strategy.

So many “experts” out there pitching the best current methods to gain high SERPs continue to be short-sighted. They forget the all the many methods they were pitching over the past three years (mass reciprocal linking, old-style article submission, old-style directory submission, scraper sites, PLR sites, ping & blog etc.) have now all become largely defunct as the SEs outsmarted them.

Sure they can make some money along the way -- but they position themselves in a never ending fight where all enjoyment is drained out of what they are doing. They can never stop and relax or truly automate their sites, and they run an unethical business that works against the interest of society and the principles of the internet.

For some the spammy and unethical nature of their approach will result in little satisfaction, low profits and ultimate downfall.

The key is aiming to spread quality information across the internet to reach as many people as possible, doing so in a manner that leverages your marketing efforts (i.e doing it with the understanding of SEO principles), and ultimately monetizing your endeavors by providing actual value to people.
