Sounds similar to the Bluefind issues. first lots of pages were removed, loss of rankings, and then the dreaded PR0 will come.
I don't remember exactly what the details were about, but I do remember them saying something abot the letter going out... Do you think industry experts would really believe that seoinc would send out a email requesting links.... If I got one of those, I'm not sure if I would have believed it was really from them.... Unless I am overestimating their company, but I have always though they were tremendous. Don't know if you saw me add this, but what do you think will come of this domain name? http://www.seoincorporated.com Coincidentaly, I registered it in January/February...
The domain name is suddenly worth a lot! Leave it parked and drive some PR to it so it becomes a PR5 or something like that in the next update. I think they would be willing to pay a very big amount for it.
really? what is another example of a high profile site getting removed from G's index? How can you be so sure that it was a manual removal and not just a new filter in the algo? wait a sec... your mom really has a website!? what is it about? clasione - you did this to them didn't you?
I never dealt with SEOinc before, but being #1 for that term is no small feat. I find it disconcerting when a site like that loses its rankings. Makes me very paranoid - what if I am doing something wrong or I don't even know that I am? Almost makes me wish someone from seoinc would pop in and explain what they did to cause this (if they did) ... you see sites get dropped, but very rarely do you have someone step up and say what they did to cause it.
The reason is fairly obvious, no? They baught *a lot* of very high PR site-wides and pointed all the links to their home page using the very same anchor text "search engine optimization". If only they pointed at sub-pages and distributed the links across their whole domain, this would not have happened, if you ask me. I'm pretty sure of this. Algo or manual removal, either way. this is the cause.
john scott did the same thing w/his bluefind directory ... bluefind got knocked out much faster than seoinc.... seoinc had been there for a while.
The latest round of site-wides seoinc baught were recent... I know ,cuz I've been monitoring the sites on which they have site-wides.... I have 606,000 bls in yahoo also.. but my site is still standing. I point to internals.. and rank inner pages. They made the mistake. It's not the shear number of high PR links which made them fall, but the misallocation of all that PR. Newbie mistake, if you ask me.
It's only because people in this thread were discussing the "cause" of their drop, that I've posted a few times. It's important to know the reason.. so we don't make the same mistake. Otherwise, I'm scared myself, and would dread that something similar happen to my site. To some extent, I don't believe they deserved this. No one truely deserves to go through this. Poor guys.
IMO it was the algo changes that got them - they have most likely done a lot of things that were pushing the envelope
positioned1.com and searchking umm well because I never saw algo change that immediatly dumped all pages of a high pr site from the index. I have seen changes were you lose all your rankings, pages slowly disappear and reappear but to suddenly not exist at all when you have tons of links.... Didn't google ban all sites hosted on that guys servers? How would you feel if you site was suddenly banned becasue you hosted in the wrong spot? Anyways .. if you make your living on the internet, seeing someone who has invested thousands of dollars and hours into ranking, suddenly lose it all. Should be chilling,
Ferret, I know what you are saying but they were fully aware of what they were doing. ic the link farm seoinc had up is taken off, I was going to show you a prime example for what NOT to do. If the biggest seo company in the world is following that strategy, then there is no way they should be up there. It is sad that the people hosted with them were banned as well but the ones who have seperated themselves have been reinstated. How long do you want people to get away with abusing the system to the point where it disadvantages everyone else?
One may also argue that a lot of the clients had undeserved rankings while others didn't. It is a total switch where some are up and then others get a chance. I always look at the quality of search results and companies like searchking have polluted the results badly.
That has to be disturbing for them, to click the view cached page button and see your homepage is gone. WOW! We'll know soon enough if their high paying clients are going to be affected by their recent demise...
They have recently started a forum on their website where you can ask questions to the CEO and CTO.. www.seoinc.com/seo-forum I guess it's better getting the answers from them.
