SEO in Joomla

Is there any tips to (more) optimize the joomla SEO beside change the perma-link, and keyword & description. Sure, with free cost..
Is there any free Component or free plugin that can be used to do this? which the better one?

There is great book called Joomla 1.5 SEO book, I remember i took notes on optimization. One of the first rules was install this patch, and it will overwrite some joomla core files. After that, disable standard joomla meta description, and in the Joomla CONFIGURATION you will find new SEO field so you can setup a lot of things.

generally you can do SEO of any platform website with unique methods.Book called "Search Engine Optimization" by Kristoper B Jones is really very good to lear SEO in proper manner..

I use Emir Sakic's SEF Advanced.. it's a pay component, but it's really good. Doesn't have the duplicate content bug that a lot of other Joomla SEO components do. With that said though, the default SEO in Joomla 1.6 is pretty good.

 

Most of your on page optimisation techniques are the same in joomla as any other platform, ie meta, h1, h2, urls etc

Then your off page is not connected to your site at all - CMS or other. Build good quality links with targeted anchor text.

But the most important thing, as always, is yor content. Write lots of good original content to back up your seo efforts otherwise they are worthless.

 

Thanks, I'll install that extensions. Anyway I'm not using Joomla 1.6 yet, but I'll think about it. Would you tell me why you said that 'SEO in Joomla 1.6 is good'? what is the differences between 1.5? would you tell me the details? thanks..

 

try enabling your htaccess that comes with your joomla installation files this way paths of your site will be nicer and most of all SEO friendly.

 

I know about htaccess optimization.. but this is just a "standar" Joomla SEO optimization. I need more than this..

 

Joomla is almost search engine friendly, so if you made the settings to make URLs search engine friendly and keywords+description, no need to do anything else. Just concentrate on quality link building. Now more important is off page SEO than on site.
