SEO: If you could Only Do ONE Thing.....What Would It Be???

    I am curious to know what people think is the single most important face of seo. I know that there is not just one thing that will make you succeed BUT I got to thinking if (hypothetically speaking) you were only allowed to do ONE form of seo, what would you do????

    Doing just one thing might not really be able to achieve your end goal- rank for your site in the engines.

    Primarily though, it all boils down to links, with good content being complementary to it.

    I would say keyword use in Title tag is the most important although cannot make or break you in and by itself. It will always be a combination of things heres my top 5:

    1. keyword in title tag
    2. anchor text of inbound links
    3. age of site
    4. authority links
    5. relevance of site theme that links to you

    For me it will be making sure that my content is keyword specific...with the target keyword littered all over the content.

    If I am a little more thorough, I will set the following too.

    Title Tags
    Description Tags
    Keyword Tags
    Submitting the content to other sites/pinging my blog content.

    Been doing this for a while...gives me results.

    Get Links, it is all about links =) You can position a site with just links, but you can't with just onsite SEO (unless it is a non very competitive term).

    In this order:
    Create lots of content.
    Get Links
    Research Keywords and phrases ...
    Avoid getting distracted by the the scams along the way

    Go back to first step and create lots of content!

    It all boils down to content even in the ultra competitive phrases.
