To make it search engine friendly, should I use click by click for category and subcategory and pages or use select box for them ?

My question is which better search engine friendly ? Hyperlink or selectbox ?

I'd have to lean towards links, a select-box may not be picked up by search engines. Especially if it uses Javascript.

Use text for important links, probably using list (<li>) at the side.

Hyperlink definitely. If however your users must navigate with a jumpbox (for your reasons), you can create an html sitemap additionally which will guarantee that all your links will be picked up my search engines.

No. Googlebot doesn't work forms (or JS behind jumpboxes). But, you could always do a replacement technique.

IE: have in the HTML a <ul> of the links, which are then removed by Javascript, and replaced by a select box.

What about if you used the JS and had the HTML (UL, LI) in <noscript> tags will the SE be able to pick up the noscript.

<noscript> tags aren't the best idea. SE's will look at the contents of them, but it is not recommended, as <noscript> can be used for cloaking.

OK thanks, but i'd think not to worry if you are not using it for cloaking, because after all the noscript tag is there for people without JS which includes spiders. For example if you are simply relaying the information which the javascript produces it seems like a good solution.

What is a better idea, are there any alternative solutions to using noscript, to help with accessibility and to make sure spiders see the information?

Wordpress does it a lot. Google it (google: "use of slug mod rewrite")

Sorry, but I can't find some example code in particular. Looking at the Wordpress login source is your best option.
