SEO How long does it take normally..SERPS + New WP

I am running a new wordpress blog wondering how long it takes normally to rise in serps for keyword optimized articles from WP blog when its still a brand new blog but the pages have already been indexed? Any ideas? My past experience it took my old blog about 1 - 2 Months. Is there any ways of speeding up this process..?

 

It depends on how competitive the keyword is and how many links your content gets over what period of time and how long it takes for google to discover those links.

I've had a blog rank in 5th position with no links what so ever for it's target keyword. But it was an uncompetitive keyword and we bought an exact matching domain.

I usually find that new links get discovered within 1 to 3 months. But how far up you go really depends on a lot of things.

How to speed up the process? Minimum waiting time seems to be around 1 or 3 months at the moment for me, not sure how you could speed it up much quicker. I mean, I have my ideas, but I can't confirm that they work because I haven't tried them.

Ok, IMO you aren't judging competition properly. The results count is not a measure of real competition it just shows how many sites are related to a term you input.

A better measure of competition is to see how many links are pointing at the first 3 sites according to Yahoo and take an average. Below 4,000 isn't too difficult to beat, anymore could be difficult. Use SEO for firefox (a firefox addon) and it'll show a whole bunch of stats underneath each listing when you search for a keyword.

 

How do i use yahoo to compare this

 

OK say your keyword is "cat"

Note down the first 3 websites that come up in google for cat and go to yahoo.

Type

linkdomain:http://www.websitehere.com -site:http://www.websitehere.com

And note down how many results appear for each.

But as I said before get firefox and addon "SEO for firefox" - it will automatically show you the number of links according to yahoo for each website under their respective Google listing.

3 months is the most i have waited to see results, however one of my sites is in the top 10 in google without many backlinks ata ll, depends on how competitive the keyword is i suppose
