I have a credit card website thats been up for a month now, i have tryed promoting it best i know how. I know the credit card industry is tough action, i have been told by a few SEO companys that it would take at least 12 months of hiring there service to come even close to the top 3 pages of google, and i have to target less used keywords, well they want a heck of alot of money that i dont have, im trying to learn to do this myself. My question is, is there somebody here that know alot about this seo, and could just look at my site, and tell me if im wasting my time and money , would be very thankfull. http://www.industrycreditcards.com
First thing i recommend that you start a blog about credit cards within your site and include some of the posts related to the niche... this way you will get some rank and search engine ranking will also be boosted as you integrate some good unique posts in your blog.... hope this helps...
It would appear at a quick glance that you have a range of issues. One, you seem to have no pr unless my toolbar thing is broken(happens often). One huge problem is that your url's are a mess. It will get truncated in this forum post but its a mile long. http://www.industrycreditcards.com/...d&COOK_SPEC_CLICK=deleted&COOK_CL_APN=not&cl= that url is one page deep and has way to much crap in it.(variables). I am guessing that Google won't even attempt to read that. I would have to comb through it to provide some valid solutions. It would seem to me that your fighting a loosing battle with your site structure though. You simply can't optimize that. As for the other company, they are correct. Credit cards are a pretty burly demographic, much like insurance. In reality, a pro would charge anywhere from 1500-5000 a month for upwards of a year before you would see tangible results. Serps for "credit cards" 133,000,000 Serps for "credit card offers" 3,720,000 not nearly as complicated but I would guess there are close to that many actual pages on the subject. Sometimes you will see 3 million returns but only the first 4 pages are on the actual subject matter. hope that sheds a little light for you. Nigel
I know its very hard to rank for credit cards, even the less used keywords have stiff competition. So i think trying to rank is a waste of time, my alternative plan is to submit loads of articles, buy some advertising on some good sites, and do a ppc campaign on the less known search engines, i think that could bring some profit in, ohh and buy some traffic, and just forget about even trying to get it seo. Im going to start looking for another niche, to try to make some money in, thanks for your opinion. mike
You should not hijack other peoples threads. It depends on what the PR is on the sites you have links from. Nigel
Hijacking me heea, just kidding. Ok heres a idea, may sound stupid, but im very new to this stuff. What if i started a credit card/loans/credit repair blogg. I could put google adsense credit card ads, that pay very well from what i have seen. My question is how do i start a blog ? to do this, i know at google webmaster tools free blog, but what is the best type of blog to start, that i can SEO to the max, thanks again for all your help, i guess this how you live and learn. mike
Mike i know someone whos very very good at getting google rankings for very tough keywords and hes reasonably priced. Pming you his portfolio now. I think you will be impressed.

Thanks PingPong, i got your pm, the problem with trying to get ranked for the keywords i want is , even if you buddy is cheaper than most, looking at 6 months at least, $2000-3000 per month, im now in the hole big time. I may never recover my exspenses, to me its just not worth the risk. I need to look for another niche thats it, but i will keep your guy in mind for future projects. Im selling the website get what i can, and chalk it up to learning curve.
