Evening all, I am after some good honest advice, we are in the heating plumbing industry and have just had a magento website designed, however before we launch it I want to make sure we get it right. We have used many seo companies saying they will achieve great rankings however to date no one has delivered what they have said they will. I know you can't guarantee anything with google however I was wondering if someone could give me some pointers on what to do, look out for, is seo still all about links ? Social media? Etc etc.... Any help would be greatly appreciated. We are in a very competitive industry with some big players in I.e b and q, home base, screwfix etc etc... Can we achieve good results the domain was first registered in 2008 so has a bit of history.
I was doing some SEO work on a plumbing site a while back it was very competitive. There is a lot of factors involved in SEO your website is the base of it, your platform, you need quality content and a good layout. By layout you need to really focus on your keywords and be realistic, you are not going to run out and take over "plumbing" by giving someone $300. it takes hours and hours of work, study and planning. The reality of SEO is it really does take experience and education to do right if you are in a competitive field. Be careful of who you let work on your site.. hire one bad seo guy and you might as well toss the site away and start over. Seriously. With any business I think the best advice is to study people who are already where you want to be. How did they get there ?
