Dear All Some background first! I'm a IT specialist with my own IT company. I've started a new website where I will post all issues that I come across during my daily work. I'm also playing around with a forum module for my site to enable my clients and friends to post their issues and questions on. The site is designed in Joomla 1.5 with a templete from Rockettheme. So here is my questions: 1. I want to use the correct SEO methods to make my site rank and get indexed by Google. (obviously I would like to use Adsense on the site in future, but for now I only want the site to become visible. 2. In this case what do I use for keywords... do I use each article/problem/page have it's own keywords that I add in the Meta tags in Joomla? 3. Do I also need to go through the whole backlinking process to get traffic to my site? 4. Any tipe you have on a site like this... best practices and advice. Do SMO for the Visitors and Hire some SEO team for your website. There are so many thing to do for ranking in search engine. So don't confuse and hire some SEO professional.

I assume you have contacted google and added your site to be indexed? As well as adding an xml sitemap file? Then start using it in posts as your signature would make some good first steps. Add some categories and posts to the forum as well! Joomla has several good seo plugins, use 1 of them. Change the title structure to topic(keywords) then site name -- folks already know where they are! LOL There is NO quick way to rank a site. Google will rank in its sweet time, concentrate on making it look good, load fast, plenty of unique content and get visitors, all of those will get you ranked.
@tnhomesteadYes i've added the site to Google Analytics and used Webmaster Tools for the rest. Useing the site URL in posts is one thing, but what about the nofollow/dofollow sites or is that purely for backlinking. Should I rather consentrate on getting traffic from forums than worry about backlinks?Yes I'm still working on the Forum, so that still need to be completed.What good/free Joomla SEO Plugin would you suggest?thanks
