What exactly http://www.doylesroom.com did to be in #1 keyword poker? 133 million competition Doyle brunson has PR5 (couldnt even compete with traffic vs pokerstars or full tilt poker) Pokerstars PR 6 Full tilt PR6 What can be the reason/trick to this?
When I search the word "poker" the site you are referring to is half way down the page on page 3 And #10 on the first page for "online poker" So I am not sure what you mean #1. At any rate, the site has been online over 5 years. Plenty of time to build trust in a highly competitive market. Cheers James
Hello! For the gazillionth time... the PR of a URL has almost NOTHING to do with how that URL ranks for a particular keyword phrase... PR0 URLs outrank PR8 pages everyday for millions (hell probably billions or trillions) of keyword phrases. And PR has nothing to do with traffic. That site has almost 11,000 external links according to Yahoo! Site Explorer. I looked and MANY of them have "online poker" as the link text. And like the previous poster, I'm not seeing them on page 1 for poker.
Yes but pokerstars have 5x more links then doyle room so any other explanation why it ranks so well and outranks all competition?
Can you see this link? http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=poker&cts=1259027020917&aq=f&oq=&aqi=g-p3g7 Its exactly at 1 place for poker
Not from the data center I am getting. It is on page 2. Are you logged into gmail? Your history buggers things up if you are. Nigel
Yes, you need to either... log out, disable web history, clear cookies or... all of the above. Before trying to understand why one site outranks another, you first need to find out where they rank Cheers James
Thanks once I logged out I couldn't even see this room in the front page thats why it was weird because I couldn't figure out how they can be #1 in such competative market
pokerstars.com wikipedia.org fulltiltpoker.com That is the top 3 results on google.com for "poker". No surprises there they are the two most popular online poker rooms. doylesroom.com is not even on the first page.
As you have discovered, they're not on the first page. That being said, PR is only one part of the ranking puzzle. There are many other factors, many of them on page. I've seen lower PR pages outrank higher PR pages. This is because Google deems their content to be more related to your search. PR is still very important in SERP position, but it's NOT the more important thing. Relevancy is the most important thing.
