Does anyone have a list of good wordpress themes that are SEO friendly? I want something that is fairly light, but will still offer the user a decent visual experience.

Actually you just need to make sure that your permalinks is set to keyword rich option and the theme don't actually matter that much.. Focus on getting people to link to you after that =)

It's not the theme per se that will make your site "SEO friendly", look at your permalinks as suggested above, and also get some SEO plugins like All in One SEO Pack and Robots Meta. (There are many others)

Thanks for all the advice. I always make sure the permalinks are are keyword friendly to the page. I was just a little concerned as some of the themes I have used in the past are full of Javascript and slow the site down slightly (although make it function well). I will check out the ones you suggested SEOPunk! cheers

Also be sure that the theme that you choose makes good use of <h1>, <h2>, etc. tags.

Having multiple columns (>= 4) in a theme might not be good for user experience which is one of the factors that Google looks out for in a web page.

Just install some plugins namely All in one Seo or the Platinum seo, that would help you.

A theme cannot be SEO optimized for adsense. It can be SEO optimized for Google. Incorrect information.

As for OP, most of the themes in the Wordpress official repository are very good in terms of SEO. Many premium themes are better but from personal tests, it does not make much different. Even free themes in the repository are quite good. Just make sure that they are fast loading and have the h1 tags etc. Rest they are good to go with the right permalinks and SEO plugins.

Everything is SEO friendly if you know anything about SEO. Anyone that tells you a theme is better for SEO than any other is full of shit.
All you need is any well designed and coded theme.
All In One SEO ( or other SEO plug in)
    Pretty Permalinks
    Good hosting
    Great Content
    Backlinks.

And don't run a bunch of useless plug ins, scripts and RSS feeds that will slow down your load time.
