    Hi guys, i'm new here
i got a guy to build my website using joomla, he built it to my spec but did not make the urls SEO friendly
i have noticed in the control panel i can select "use SEO Friendly URLS"
when i select this my whole site goes offline with multiple errors
is there any easy way to make all my urls SEO friendly or to get this option working correctly?

    Thanks in Advance

    Robert

You will have to rename the htaccess.txt file in to .htaccess before enabling that option. Also, the server for this Joomla installation must have mod_rewrite enabled. You should check with your web host where mod_rewrite is enabled. You can also use a Joomla extension as described at http://www.teachmejoomla.net/joomla...al-questions/how-to-enable-seo-on-joomla.html if the first option is not working for you

htaccess is Not a Text File! Htaccess has its own extension, i.e .htaccess! All You do is, Open it using Notepad or any text Editors and work on!

Default Joomla SEO URLs will not work well. I will suggest you to install any 3rd party extension and then turn on the SEF URLs from there.
You can use SH404,JoomSEF OR iJoomla SEO Extensions.

in order for the SEO friendly to work in your website without any errors is to turn on the joomla seo friendly url because if you wait to the last minute you are going to get a lot of problems, i had to redo most of my site because of this.
