SEO friendly navigation menu?

Can anyone advise me if the navigation menu on my site is SEO friendly?
It seems to be a combination of CSS and javascript. I've never been very happy about this but I wanted a drop down menu and this seemed to be the least complicated. It's a photojournalism site.
I'm thinking of changing it for a text based navigation system like the one I have on my other site, a photography site. This may or not be significant but the photography site gets a lot more traffic than the photojournalism site, and I wonder if this is because its navigation menu is more SEO friendly.
    The url is www.theskegnessnews.co.uk

I am no SEO expert but as far as usability goes it is horrible (sorry to be blunt). I found it really hard to work out how to navigate your site.

With so many CSS options available you should find something that works with your CMS/ site architecture.

On top of that as I understand most SE's do not spider java script links

    Yes,
I don't like the navigation either.

Take a look at my navigation here: http://www.pokereagles.com/

It uses CSS dropdown menu. Perfectly find for SEO

Where is your navigation menu? You shall at least put it at a place which can be easily found.

ouch that is bad, also search engines don't understand those links, they understand the classic <a href="somelinkhere.htm">Blah</a> and not <option value="somelinkhere.html">Blah</option>

Consider breadcrumbs and structure of keywords building navigation for any particular site. Even the best SEO friendly navigation can confuse surfers and on the other hand a very surfer-friendly navigation may be harmful for robots, therefore both should be considered.
