Hey all, first thread. I'll jump right into it. Basically I was reading another thread and the issue of whether or not trading links with another site was SEO friendly was brought up. Personally I think it will positivly impact your results as the incoming link gives you more backlinks, keywords, ect. Although thats not the point of this thread though, I'd like to your thoughts on this. The main point I'd like to have addressed in this thread is the following: How can you create a section on your site for traded links without get penalized by search engines. I'm sure links pages (eg. www.mysite.com/links.html) would be frowned upon. Should you make your links sitewide? Targeted to certain pages and content? Anything else? I'm looking forward to your responses and thanks in advance!
I've read that link pages should have links placed contextually in paragraphs. It's better than pages which lots of outgoing links and no text at all. Would like to hear more opinions on this also.
I can't answer your question, but looking at my link exchange page at www.hkhangfong.com/linkexchange.htm, I got an update from PR0 to PR4 during the last google PR update.
Links pages are really going the way of the dodo bird. Search engine don't like them and as a result they don't help you or the person you are linking to. However, links within page content that are relevant to the page content are very valuable. Let's say you have a specific page that is all about Ford Mustangs and in this page you have a link to Ford. This is a good link for Ford as it is coming from a page relevant to their website. Also, links coming from websites with higher PageRanks are more valuable. If you can do a link exchange with someone with an 8 or 9 page rank I think this would be very advantageous.
Ok, this makes sense. So links out in the right column under "Our Partners" would probably not be the best way of going about this? Links inside relevant content is the way to go then. Thanks guys!
