Hi Guys, I got this redirect from Webconfs and it is working: Options +FollowSymLinks RewriteEngine on RewriteRule (.*) http://www.newdomain.com/$1 [R=301,L] However it has been over a month and the page rank has not been re-assigned to the new site. The site is a blog that is indexed frequently (updated 3-4 times daily). The google index stats aren't show many pages indexed yet on the new site either - however traffic has not dropped. Is this definitely an SEO friendly redirect method, is it too soon to be concerned? Cheers
A redirect will not guarantee that the page rank will be transferred. There are lots of other factors involved in page rank, including back links, etc, and a redirect does not necessarily transfer it over. Plus as the other guy said, pagerank is not updated that often. I'd keep to your SEO plan and building links, etc on the new site, and you should find it will eventually come back. Cheers
You will have to be very patient. If after 6 months things appear the same, then come back and ask about it again. Personally I try to avoid redirects if possible because 1) Takes a long time for Google to pass juice on. 2) There's a possiblity some of the previous links will be filtered out as false positives.
