The travel industry is heavily into utilising the Internet and search engine marketing. Its also very competitive for SEO purposes. I have worked on one holiday site relating to Villa Holidays in Northern Cyprus. Its position relatively well on google, yahoo and msn, and the client gets regular bookings throughout the year. The order values will depend on destination, accommodation type and number of people booking. Higher levels of online bookings seem to be made mainly between April and September.
