I am a layman in SEO. How to start Search Engine Optimization? I have a small blogsite and a website with geocities.com. Will someone from DP explain how?
It is too much for us to explain everything you need to know. There are plenty of free tutorials, guides, blogs & forums that you can learn a lot from. Get reading some of those sources asap. seobook.com and seomoz.org are good starting places. Then come back to the forum when you have any specific questions about what you're learning.
its not easy to learn SEO through any post. for this do searches , keep you eye on specific website like seobook.com. there are no. of e-books are available just go through with them n do practice whatever u learn.
In a nutshell, make it content relevant so search engines know exactly what your site is about. Main keywords preferably in the URL, title, description, in the first sentence, 25% in the content and within the last sentence. Post an article in go articles, ezines, other article directories, you may post the same content as your blog but change words around so the search engines don't think it's a duplicate and penalize you for that, and make sure you back link to your site when you're writing these articles, comment on other blogs relevant to your site and leave your link there, and just be consistent, post regularly and work on your back links which is a very important part of SEO. start by creating content that people will look for. then tell people that you exist by posting your link on sites sharing similar information with yours. avoid annoying people by posting your link too much and too often.
