SEO for something people aren't searching for

I’ve got a potential client who wants to promote a business similar to this: roller-vision.com/cgi-bin/en-portal.shtml (I can't post links)

I don’t expect people will be searching for this sort of business because they are unaware of it. Does anyone have suggestions about how the site could be SEOed or is it even worth SEOing? I can't think of keywords to optimise for.

You know the shutters shops use to stop you breaking in when they're closed? They basically decorate them with big adverts. Here's some examples roller-vision.com/cgi-bin/en-clients1.shtml

Look at how security for shops is listed/advertised - security shutters, shop fittings etc - and use the old trick of finding a well-listed site in that field and have a look at their meta keywords.
Then do the same for sites that do advertising hoardings and those sort of products.

harryccf, that was my question. I know how to optimise, just not what words I want to do it for on this site.

magda that's a very good idea, it's similar to billboards so that sort of site is a good start point.

    Thanks everyone

You need to do the following exercise.

    • Find a keyword that broadly relate to your product
    • Find another keyword that identifies the type of product
    • See how many searches are done using SEO Search Volume tools

When you end up with a key phrase that gets adequate search volumes, than that's your key phrase.

do it anyway, but tell your client first and recommend other keywords, the best thing is communication, because your client wants to know what's going on and feel like their in charge...so let them.
At then end of the day, the customer is always right.....

Get a list of keywords that people would use to search to find your client's product. Or better yet the words people would use for the problem your client solves. For your site you should check out variations of "graffiti clean up" and other such terms. If you read every page of your client's site you'll come up with about a hundred different ideas.

seems to be something special. a rare kind of "advertisment". so this is your
broad keyword. i dont know if "roller advertisment" is often searched for but also
try other combinations of "advertisment" because most people are not aware of
    this kind of ad placement.
something like "advertisment ideas" or "new advertisment". just a thought

If you can croner that niche, it could be fantastic! although the work would be in making people aware of this as a buusiness venture by posting articles etc

Look like you want to optimize a multilingual website, you need to pick the keywords of specific search terms and optimize for country specific search engine.

All this points are correct, to add up you can introduce your products by creating a group, a social network identity or whatever. You can also create a blog for this product. Look for people who uses this product and contact them.
