Signature is also a backlink and backlink is one of the factor in ranking. So, signature can still help in our ranking and not only in traffic.

Not all! Bunch of crap links would not do anything good in your site. I suggest you focus to quality links from related sites.

Use it as your anchor text. Insert your targeted keywords in your signatures to tell bots/spiders about your site.

 

Well said vic, and infact I will go ahead to say that even the links in posts in DP themselves carry almost zero value. I won't be surprised if google has manually done this to keep the backlink value from forums to be very little (specially for DP).

Also I am fairly sure, that after getting few links from a forum, the others are useless, I mean, don't expect much difference between 100 and 200 links from DP
