Hello, Our site has been online and generating an income for over 3 years. We have spent a lot of time and money designing and upgrading our site over time, but have yet to start an SEO project in order to rank better. Some of our keywords already show up on the first page of Google results, but those are few and far between. We currently use a Miva shopping cart. Can anyone recommend a good, reputable SEO firm that we can work with? Thanks!!!
I think its better if you post this on any freelance site as you will get professionals bidding and also to check up reviews of previous work. Hire anyone with good reviews over there. May be you the some replies here too.
Many good companies offer SEO services. What's nice about a service is that even though you are on the first page for some keywords already, you should get professional tracking tools and/or statistics that track every keyword that you are looking to rank for and how well each phrase is doing. If you aren't tracking the results then it's not really marketing. For your consideration: Network Solutions GoDaddy Alternatively, you may want to get a local marketing agency. Here's one that I know of in my area. The Loud Few There are still some basics you should know going in to a project like this. Some of these you may know already from browsing around here. First off, SEO is a long-term process. Great results can take months to a few years to be fulfilled. An overall plan will include PPC and other short-term search marketing services. Secondly, don't just copy what your competition is doing. Third, when signing up for a service, get stuff in writing. There are no guarantees, but make sure you fully understand what a successful campaign will mean.
Thanks for the above suggestions... we will start the ball rolling. It will be a long process - but it needs to be done!
I would seriously recommend picking up a book and doing as much research as you can before investing any of your profits in an area you are unfamiliar. There are many people/companies out there who charging varying amounts for the same work, granted some will be more successful than others - but how will you measure their success if you are not familiar with theri work. So, please get a book on SEO and PPC and do as much research as possible.
Hi Jessie, feel free to give us a shout at Seoboutiques.com, we've had some good success. thanks Alain
I would recommend going to SEO companies specializing in Ecommerce sites. There is a big difference between content sites and ecommerce sites when it comes to SEO. Issues like page count, and relative incoming links just to name a few are relevant for ecommerce sites in special ways, that are not relevant to content sites. I run a few ecommerce sites of my own, and have run into these issues. We do our SEO in-house and rank on the first page of google for our money keywords which are considered highly effective. hope this helps a bit. A.
I agree with Astudent972. Don't go with your first option that comes up. Make sure they have a history of successful eCommerce SEO. You wouldn't want to be their first eCommerce clients and find out they have no idea what their doing when it comes to increasing your site's rank.
Some great tips here! Thanks again. I also like the idea of getting an SEO book in addition to researching SEO companies' backgrounds. Will definitely check success record of a particular company before signing any contracts to start the project. On my way to Barnes & Noble to get a couple of SEO books!
Here's the SEO book I purchased: Jerry L. Ledford SEO - very informative and is a great starting point.
Now its time to soak as much as you can in, don't be afraid to start trying things out too - this is the best way to learn!
never do test on a primary domain it may get your domain banned first get yourself a domain for researching purpose so if even the site get banned you will now have not to worry
Take this with a pinch of salt, banned from what exactly? Its not easy to get a website banned from a search engine - as long as you don't do something completely rediculous like LINKING OUT to a load of porn etc
Good luck with your new site... especially since SEO seems to be an extremely competitive market today.
