You use the same rules and techniques, but for the language you are optimizing for rather than English.

    Yes, it's really that easy.

You'll find that non-english SEO can be significantly easier!
Just make sure to build appropriate back links and content that is natural.

I've top ranked a number of thai sites using standard SEO techniques. Just use your head and you'll be fine.

Yeah, non english seo is the same and is connected to culture related. For instance, here in Brazil, people don't use to link like american people do.

There are just a few social book. services from Brazil as feed aggregators and other services. so I need to get links from non Brazilian websites for seo.

Or just better optimize your sites for Brazilian audiences. You'd be surprised how well you can do with a solidly coded site with optimized content that's been written for your users with the search engines in mind. (By this I mean making them as accessible and easy to use as possible with clean, semantic and valid markup along with extensive keyword research and a properly executed competitive keywords analysis.)

Having been in the SEO field from the start, English SEO is easy. But we are now getting into the Multilingual Search Marketing field. We were very suprised how easy it was.

    Until!!!
    The character sets are different.
    The SEs are different.
And "left to right" vs. "right to left".

And then the translation errors. US English slang (including SEO terms) and British English slang are different, but now translate it in to Spanish or Hebrew. The meanings are different.

Therefore the search term (keyword phrase) that is translated from US English brings up a different SERP set than British English.

You therefore need a Bilingual Content Writer/Translator (Note: The fast growing segment in Internet Marketing today).

And yes, it needs different sites.
Different hosting? (unknown at this time)

And Google Translation will get you laughted at but it is getting better.

And you thought binary programming was hard...
