    What would you suggest for off page optimisation for a newbie working on an ecommerce site with a lot of products.

    Fluent English speaker, and can do simple website tasks.

    What would you say is the easiest and fastest SEO technique for them to concentrate on?

    Social bookmarking? seems easy enough - is it worth them spending time on this or would this be better to be purchased from a freelancer for cheap?

    Classified ads?

    I think articles will be too time consuming - please give me any ideas

    For eCommerce website I suggest classified submission for each product helps in increasing sales and ranking both.

    The most important thing for ecommerce site is traffic. If you have visitors on your website, some of them might get converted. Getting your site on the first page of Google through SEO is very important.
    Do Image sharing on Pinterest, Clipboard, etc. sites. These are a nice way to get direct traffic.

    Don't underestimate the value of a good Facebook social campaign. If your product is unique or you give a good twist on how you sell the product, you can create a following in facebook. This will help with both traffic and SEO. All you need is a couple of really good fans to help you seed it. What type of product do you sell?

    Since yours is an e-commerce website, Google results are pretty important for you.
    Here are some tips you should work in the given order
    • Become affiliate partner with some affiliate website such as Clickbank and provide quality products (You get back links this way.
    • Create twitter, Facebook, Google + and Pinterest. E-commerce sites can work wonders with good number of Pinterest followers
    • Write guest post on other blogs or review sites and notify them of your products
    • Create videos of your products and promote them
    P.S. Use digital point wisely and you can get really good followers :)

    Get yourself a free GOOGLE Webmaster Tools account to monitor your progress over time. You'll want some type of benchmark to see how your off-page optimization is working (or not working). The tool will also tell you if there are any problems spidering the site.
