Hi there, I have a blog I am working on and want to make sure it will rank highly in search engines when I'm finished. I just read a few post talking about SEO for blogging and the feeling I got from it was that the most important thing is to have unique and interesting content and not to worry as much about keywords and other SEO attributes. I have a good idea how SEO works with HTML, I'm just trying to figure out if I need to do anything differently with my blog to make it rank higher in a search engine. By the way, I'm new to this forum and like what I see so far. Thanks Matt
Use schema, open graph, etc. types of micro data for your blog. At some point, it will helpful not for rankings but also when someone sharing your content on social media, it will show description with proper image for your blog post.
Thanks Mit, I'm kinda new to blogging so I haven't heard of those. I'll check them out, thanks for helping me get started.

With a WordPress website SEO becomes quite simple. Install the Yoast SEO plugin and it will help you optimise your blog posts for SEO. Hope that helps!
WordPress SEO plugin Yoast made my life a whole lot easier. When you follow its instructions you know you're covered. However, you need to be active on social media in order to gain greater presence and drive more traffic to your blog. Also, if you blog, it's pretty nice to belong to a blogging community, whether is it from your niche or relevant to it. If you put some work and effort into making great comments on other people's blogs, they will notice you and comment on yours, too. It's like growing a community, but also individually growing with it. Use every chance and every glimpse of inspiration to create a great content. Good, helpful, relevant, informative and inspirational content will always be your anchor.
