SEO for my Blogger Blog?

What are the best SEO methods for a blogger blog? Can I use meta tags and everything or no?

From what I understand (I'm not a user), you only get one template file, with the META tags hard-coded, and not templatalbe. Am I right? If that's the case, you're pretty much screwed.

 

You can change the Title and Description on blogger's dashboard.

 

But is that blog-wide Rivers (as in the same description gets used on each page), or does the description remain page specific?

 

that's the catch.. description is sitewide.. title is post title+blog title.

we're talking about the content in the template being used blog wide (such as "this is my blog" appearing as the description of every page in your blog, rather than each page having its own unique description)

I'm not a Blogger person (I prefer WordPress), and since I don't know much about the system, I figured I'd ask someone who does, while also relating what little I do know of Blogger to you.

 

Is WordPress free? I was told that was a good one to use..

I plan on Friday purchasing a domain, I was thinking thedailyslice.com or something, and it will just be a blog with tech/gaming news, what do you guys think?

 

Yes it is. I got my copy over at http://wordpress.org/download/ and then put it on my server.

 

So I need my own hosting first? I have hosting, but I am not sure how to add new domains to if, if I even can..

I might jsut buy some cheapo $3/month hosting. I do not like Blogger, I prefer to code everything myself.

 

You would indeed need your own hosting if you use the standalone version. If you don't, you can always sign up for a WordPress.com account.

 

it's really harder to SEO free sites since you have little control over it. so if you're serious about running a site then buy hosting+domain.
