SEO for Images

My website http://www.freshtrend.com gets a decent amount of traffic from Google on a daily basis but virtually no traffic from Google Image Search.

Every page in my site has a specific image on it and most have good alt and title tags but still no traffic from image searches.

Can anyone offer any insight on what I'm doing wrong?

Are the graphics named with the keyword they rank for?

For example, an image named 0121412.gif just with alt / title tags won't really show up against something like

red_ferrari_car.gif with alt / title tags.

Maybe your site is not so reputable as your competitors.

The things you have done are just onpage optimizations.

You can read about the off page factors in some threads here. It will give you some idea.

    A few tips:

-- Use descriptive keywords for images
-- Use hyphen to seperate keywords i.e. keyword1-keyword2.jpg
-- Use alt image tag with keyword(s)
-- Text close to the image should be related to keyword of image

Put your keywords in your alt tag and in your title tag, it may give a large impact to Search engines.

Yes, content around the images also helps.

Try to add more related content on the same page.

Well right now there is a post on my site about a Heated Cat Bed so the image code looks like:

    <img src="http://www.freshtrend.com/images/HeatedCatBed.jpg" id="right" alt="Heated Cat Bed" title="Heated Cat Bed" />

then after that there is a paragraph or two about the heated cat bed. I follow this style for every image on every page, but still no traffic.

I understand the basics of optimizing images and I've done that but can't figure out why there's no traffic.

It may be different for other sites but I've found that traffic from Google image search is basically useless. I get a high proportion of my traffic from Google image search but most just snag the pic they're looking for and move on without bothering to look at the rest of the content.

You must put an alt tag and your keywords in it.

    Eg. <img src="http://www.site.com/image.jpg" alt="keyword 1">

What i can recomend it is to use.
    www.zenphoto.org

It is seofriendly, and works fine with our websites where images are valuable to search positions.

The name of the image is the most important and then the Alt Tag
