i just love the way everyone repeats what the others already wrote without adding new information does that make the advice stronger?
The SEO for images is done with the help of the alt lag. But be careful: name the images with the proper name. I guess you will not like it if you search on Google for, let's say, a bird picture, and Google will return pictures with... chairs. And yes, i do have images that show up in the first page of Google search results.
Every bit of onpage SEO helps title is great to allow additional information to your user when they mouse over a link or image. You can use title in <a href as will as <img src= alt is great for search engines that crawl your site I do this <img src="images/social-submission-linksprocket.gif" title="Why dont you add your site?" alt="Social Submission" /> Additonal SEO can be gained but not overusing or overpacking the name of the image with some keywords. Dont over use it. I see in the threads above users suggesting image/car_model.gif better to use images/car-model.gif Hope this helps
it's a good suggestion swapshop. i think you are right. naming your image you should use - not _. this is the right way on naming your image. and don't forget the alt tag as many of the people told you, search engine crawler doesn't read images, when they crawl the alt tags that's the time they will know what the image is all about.
How do you do this? - I've just started creating squidoo lenses but didn't realise I could put details in images.
jj1 see my siggies all free promos To name a image look at the content on the page then choose a keyword to use in the name one thats say in your title and in the content or a similar name Example Squidoo page is on teen chat photo of a member named <img src="teen-chat-photo.gif" title="Teen photo" alt="Photo of a Teen" Dont over pack keywords on the page but use similar word like girls-photo.gif of pretty-girl.gif
While you are doing this image marketing the title of the image is most important. no matter what the extension may be. Its always better to have keyword as the image title. For example you are planing to promote the flower then keep flower.jpt than 574.jpt. Because Google uses the text around the images as much as it does the alt tag, so make sure that there's a caption above or below the picture that contains a keyword.
