Hello all, My question is does anyone know some direction how to rank well in local business results into google map. I saw many websites which rank great for most competitive keywords but still they are not on the list in Google map. I guess that must be some special technique to rank well.
Grtting ranked your website in google maps(local) is much critical that getting ranked it in universal results. It uses a black box algo to rank websites, but nobody is sure about how this algo works. One factor that I think is the most important factor is Google trust that you could get by filling precise information in the Google local listing and validating the same,.
I noticed that when I search for a term, say 'veterinarian in city name', then I go to the reviews, the word 'veterinarian' is highlighted where it appears in the reviews. I think reviews with the keywords in them make you rank higher within local business listings for that term. But be careful. I understand that Google is wise to receiving multiple reviews from the same ip address. Also, many of the reviews come from other directories, like Insider Pages. I bet it would look suspicious to Google if there were 20 reviews entered directly in the Google Local Business listing, but none from the other directories they get feeds from. I also think that any interaction - you updating the listing, customers writing reviews, etc. - helps. Google has no way to know when a business closes its doors, but recent information means they're still open, right?
