Not sure if this is supposed to be common knowledge or not ( did a quick google search and couldnt find anything ) but when optimizing images for better ranking in google images, does the filesize and image dimension play a role ? It probably does... If so, what is the optimal image size ? I know that you can filter images in google images by size , but by default it is set at "any size" which is what most people look at. What would be the most optimal size for images to appear there ? ( dimensions / weight ) it seems to me like file sizes which would appear normally in the "large" size setting rarely appear on the first page of the "any size" setting. ( Same for "icon" setting )
Good question. From my experiences, the file sizes don't directly have an effect on the SEO, however, it may have an effect on the user clicking away from your site if the images are so large that it takes too long to load.
