I was looking at another phpbb forum today and it looks like they have added a mod that makes the url of each post the title of the thread. Would this help in the seo of my forum?

I'm currently making a site map of my forum using xml and am going to submit it and looking for any ideas or help that might help my rankings.

One of the most important first steps for phpbb is to get rid of the session ids in the url. Check out Abe's Phpbb mod.

I would agree. Get rid of the session id's first and foremost...I've never been a huge fan of renaming URL's completely because it is awfully restrictive when it comes time to upgrade or customize...I think that for phpBB, removing the sid's is a great improvement.
