SEO for Ecommerce with Blog

    Hello,

I currently don't have a blog on my ecommerce site. If I add one via a subdomain (blog.mywebsite.com) how will that help or not the SEO for my site?

Basically, I'm asking because it's not a fully intergrated part of my site. The blog would be more of an addon.

    What's your take on this?

    Thanks, Roger

It can increase the Social Integrity of your main portal among landing visitors to find enhanced amount of information through blog. A blog feature can also benefit the theme of business by featuring latest products or deals and announcing them in to blog can attract healthy set of visitors if you market them on twitter and facebook etc.

Yeah! Its a good idea. Having a blog for any eCommerce site more appreciable. It will increase your website visibility. Means suppose if your eCommerce site is a product site or services. Then you can write different articles regarding your products or services in such a way that how your product can help users.

By just adding a blog for your website will not attract any SEO benefits, you need to start posting something new and niche content related to your field and try to attract more visitors by providing good information on the products you sell.

I am just setting up a blog on my eCom web site and my hope is that I can write useful content that has larger range of keywords than on the main site and therefore I can target some specific keywords.
I have a question however. If i link from the blog article to a product in my eCom site. What value would that link have?
    Many thanks. Eunan.

addon domain is better because this blog provide you a onsite SEO which is much more powerful than offsite SEO. If you get another domain for the blog which is a new site for blog. Then you still have to link it with your website and you need to do SEO for both side. It maybe more hard to manage.
So it better to use a addon domain for the website blog.

Yes, definitely get the blog and update it at least once per week if you expect to get any value. As to subdomain or within the main URL, this is a subject widely debated in many SEO forums. So much so that statistically, it's probably most important you just create one, not about where you put it. I recommend creating 15 initial articles. Backdate 10 of them, and set 5 for future dates, at least 2x per week, if not daily. Get your blog listed and indexed during this high activity time period. BTW I prefer WordPress best for SEO and all functionality.

Today Bolg’s are very important to the success of many businesses. They not only provide a way to communicate with consumers, but they can also help to gather feedback, increase brand awareness and influence search engine rankings.

Good question. We just posted a blog post about this: 9 Blogging for Business Tips & Tools.

The short answer is Yes, you should start a blog related to your site. I don't think it matters totally if it's on-site or not. Of course, it would be great if it was all together. But don't let that stop you. Here are the benefits, either way:

-- The blog helps you pre-sell whatever you're selling. You can go into detail about your products, telling all the benefits a person needs to be convinced to buy.
-- The blog builds your credibility, helps people believe that you're someone good to spend their money with.
-- The blog allows you to create lots of links to your products whenever you write about them. This helps boost your product pages on search engine results.
-- Use SEO writing techniques when writing your blog posts. This helps each post attract MUCH more traffic than your static site alone would bring you.

Let us know when you get it set up.
