You can hire any professional SEO company to do this. It won't come cheap though!

IMO any SEM/SEO company should be able to cope with directories, either as individual tasks or full SEO packages.

Have a look around...there are lots of services...

To rank for business directory, lets say first page. I would happily guestimate anywhere from $1 - $2k (possibly much more) depending on your methods. Its been awhile since I have done the research on that keyword (almost 6 months), but it was pretty competitive last time I checked.

Like I said, its been awhile since I looked, but maybe someone can provide a little more up-to-date info. Like mikey mentioned its gonna cost you.

I imagine very hard, expensive and would it be worth it to rank for business directory, and no seo company can guarantee the ranking.

A directory which is part of the seo chain, seems the last thing to use a seo service, if you cant get your directory to rank without a seo company then your ability to be a quality business directory is not very solid.

Submitters to your directory need confidence that you know what your doing, and you probably wouldn't be able to rank for long if the seo company could acheive it for you, unless you keep fronting up $600 - $1000 every month or something, could you make that back in submissions to your business directory?

Agree with John here. It takes a lot of time and effort to rank for "business directory", also don't forget the maintenance fees you'll have to pay on a monthly basis just to make sure your site will stay up there.

It is a competitive keyphrase, that could get a lot of traffic in.

I'd recommend you to go for 3-4 less competitive, long tailed keywords which may still bring a nice amount of traffic to your site but they'll be easier to achieve and maintain, unless you have the budget and patience to rank for this one.

    Hope this helps

That will run about $3,000 to $5,000 per month for a minimum of one year but most likely much more. A little time a common sense and you can do it yourself.

Could be more or less depending on domain, age, site structure, keyword competition, kw strength and a few other factors... Without a proper analysis no one should be able to talk about costs IMO

Agreed, its gonna be up their though lmao. I remember researching it when I first started and its a busy keyword. Not sure it has the return people think it does though. Similar to "Web Directory", people don't realize how many searches get done by just people trying to rank for the word. For instance, I have searched it prolly 3 times today on different engines.

One suggestion, go to Google and do a search for SEO company or similar. If they can't get themselves to rank for a competitive term in their own industry chances are good they might not have the ability to get you a high rank for a competitive term in another industry.

Don't slate me for being stupid here but is it really that much to promote a site to get it to top ranking for your chosen keywords?

I would never pay it again but that’s what the reputable SEO services soak you for. I had one charge me over $3,000 just for reading e-mail and a small amount of bad advice.

Crikey, my group are seriously under charging if that's the case. Seriously, some services really do big themselves up and make people believe that because they are expensive they must be the best. This is certainly not always the case.

The fees will always depend on several factors...it is not about under charging or over charging, Jamie...it's mostly about the work and time involved. True example: some company paid £60,000 for one year to rank for some stuff. They now make anywhere between £5k and £7k monthly while they pay only £800/month maintenance fees.

Other example: some other company paid nearly £50k/year to one of the best SEO companies in UK, managed by someone which is quite an expert in the field. They never did any serious work...more than that the bloody expert managed to penalize some of his clients sites....

SEO might be a long term investment if you can afford it and if you are lucky enough to find the right company to help you.
