SEO For Directories Guide

I have just published an SEO For Directories guide on my blog, some of the tips I have learned here at DP, others I have picked up myself, it will all be pretty standard stuff to a lot of you but I think it is a good all round guide that will be very useful for new directory owners and people who are thinking about setting up a directory:

    http://ukseodirectory.wordpress.com/seo-for-directories/

If any of you have any suggestions on how I can improve the guide I would really appreciate them.

Thats very good guide indeed. except one needs a very fat pocket to get those high PR backlinks.:D

I have been studying your Bizzy --and found all your secret high PR backlinks. Being yourself an SEO professiobal --you certainly know the best links --no wonder you Bizzy is rocking:p

I specially liked your links on colossus and seocompany. I always find --colossus --with no ad space --can you please tell me how you manage to get you banners there? He must be your known friend:D
That is the best place to put your ad as it send huge targetted traffic. I have an innerpage listing and average 3 referrals per day. Wonder how many comes from main page:eek:

Seocompany also should send ya heavy targetted traffic. I am keeping an eye on these two places.

    JHnrang:

They both contribute considerably to my overheads, but I do get big traffic from both of them, I think the SEOCompany.ca homepage sends me more referrals then any other page, search engine colossus shows up as separate pages but the different pages are all over my stats, I guess I just asked for the links at the right time.

Yes -- I know exactly what you are talking about. I have been literally stalking them for two listing -- yet to succeed:( . And they are not normal traffic --they are targetted traffic. Also the juices are just relevant.

Let me try my luck -when do I get a chance.

Well, sometimes even targeted traffic does not convert.
I get a lot of traffic from searchengineguide.com which converted into only a few of submissions.

seocompany has tons of outbound links on its page and I wonder how how valuable the backlink is, especially for its price

You need to stop thinking in terms of PR and start thinking in terms of traffic.

    PR? Who cares...

Traffic? It's very decent for the price (if your site is related).

I agree with Silencer. The thing with these places is the quality of them. When it comes to quality --I hardly worry about PR/OBL and such things. They are redundant.

I just hope I can someday -find two spaces on those two sites.:)

yes, you are right. I was looking at it only from a PR POV. Perhaps my question then shld be, what are the conversion rates like?

Meethere - The article does mention HTML and XML sitemaps, I do not believe that SEO friendly URLs make much difference in terms of SEO (it's a funny thing but in someways the dynamic one's are more SEO friendly) although I may add a paragraph about them, thanks for your suggestion.
