SEO for Country TLD

Just wondered if anyone could give me some tips on improving SE rankings for a UK website.

I must admit i've never worked on SEO for a country specific website and am excited at the project.

Just have a couple of initial questions if anyone has had any experience in doing this :)

    1. How does the hosting of the site (geographical location) factor into it? (the domain is a regional TLD)

    2. Do the backlinks benefit more from having the country in the anchor text (ie, 'UK hotels', rather than 'hotels' or is that taken into consideration with the TLD?

Thanks guys - if anyone has any other advice or yips from their own experience feel free to share them :)

1- Most of our customers are Canadian sites with .ca domains but we make sure that all of them hosted on Canadian based servers, I heard that it is enough to get the country domain but I don t want to try I always get local host as well
2- You can put the country in the anchor but with local search engines you can achieve results those you can to dream to achieve it with .com search engines
so try it without the Geographical delimiter

    A few things that matter

    1. Where the site is hosted.
    2. Where are the sites that give backlinks hosted...I have a site with a .ca domain..hosted in the US, but if I can get enough links from Canadian sites to mine with a desired anchor text, I'll rank higher for the Canadian search.
