Hello Friends, I am just wondering how PR is determined for co.cc based domain (Free domain). We all know if url is like this it is treated as subdomain or page of a site and search engine or PR will be determined according. Now when we have following URL, will it be treated as subdomain or a single page of a site co.cc OR it will be considered as a seperate domain for search engine & PR purpose Some Other facts: co.cc site is hosted on their own server where as yourname.co.cc is hosted on different server. Subdomain can't be hosted on another server. In the light of above, I want your thoughts, inputs, suggestions or answers. Your participation will be appreciated. Thank You Yours, Hemang Shah
it is a subdomain, but it will be considered as a seperate domain just like cz.cc CMIIW, sorry not to make clear enough
Well I think you can host a co.cc (sub)domain on every server you want since as I read on their site, they will give you full DNS management. Anyway I think if you create a site and you are not willing to pay ten dollars a year for that, it is a clear indicator for the whole world that you think your site is not even worth of ten bucks. This is the reason why I would opt for your own top level domain, such as .com etc.
Thanks for your response. I know how human being reacts to free domain. I was asking about how search engine reacts to free domains like co.cc since co.cc and yourname.co.cc both are hosted on different server, PR may be counted considering yourname.co.cc as independent domain, though I want confirmation on this point from someone. Yes, I do own primary/top level domains but still I like their service and actually it's not just URL redirection but they provide you with complete domain management and control like whois, DNS management, CNAME,A,MX,NS,TXT etc. Even google adsense do recognise co.cc domains. From my own tests and looking at my own rankings, I would have to say it is treated as a completely separate domain. I dont see any problem with rankings/PR on my CO.CC domains, but also every time I start to rank well with my free domain, they take the domain from me and put their own ads on it.
It should be treated as subdomain, which it is. Subdomains and main domains are independently evaluated for PR, which you can see by checking PR of some blogspot blogs which is different from PR of blogspot.
co.cc is available for free registration only for "PERSONAL" use and not Commercial use.(they charge $3/year for commercial usage domains) So if you register for free and then put your own ad codes, it will amount to commercial use and they may delete your domain or may start using it (by placing their own ads) And ofcourse, if one is thinking of buying co.cc commercial domain, one must be biggest fool of the world. He can buy any primary domain (presently undergoing promotion) for around $1. eg. .info But yes, thanks about clarification regarding its seperate validity for SEO purpose. I do feel that every co.cc domain is independent from main domain co.cc and will be ranked as domain and not as subdomain. Though we don't have any conclusive proof about this, we can easily judge it. Yes, I am aware about blog spot ranking but I really can't decide whether it can be compared with co.cc ranking or not.
