I've got better position in Bing SERP than Google from my targeted micro niche. Both of Google and Bing love unique content but there's big different on their algorithm for checking site's longevity.
i do the same for Google as for Bing. Just the all well known on pages SEO techniques and building backlinks.
Whenever I do SEO for a site, I can usually get listed (and often a decent rank) in Google within a week - and the ranking usually goes up from there. With Yahoo, it usually take 1-3 months for decent ranking. And with Bing (formerly MSN), it takes months - often 3+ Anyone know what can be done to get faster ranking in Bing, or is this 'the way it is'? -
As crossroads mentioned, the largest difference is content vs. links. This is nothing new for MS and holds true with Bing. Content is valued at Bing more than at Google. Hx tags, etc... are of much more value there vs Google.
To rank in Bing, all you need is to have your keywords in your domain name--their algorithm is really simple.
A little off topic but I believe a good place to discuss. I have not really done may things differently for Bing that I do for Google, but I am starting to see some major differences in SERPS between the 2. The other reason, in my mind, for trying to find out what ranking factors Bing uses is Yahoo will start using there search platform, from what I have read about these 2 joining forces. The major issue that I see and have with Bing is “here today, gone tomorrowâ€. What I mean by this is I can watch certain keywords of mine that will be ranked 3-4 one day, the next day 35-40, then the following day 15-20. Obvious it is frustrating for my efforts, but I can not help but think this is frustration for users too. My thought is if I do a search for something, say nike shoes, I find a shopping site like it but just do not purchase. I come back to bing the next day do the same search and I can not find the same site I was looking at the day before. Although most of us are here for seo/sem stuff, but user experience is #1 in everyone’s book. Are others seeing the same bouncing up and down with no change to content? Do you feel that this is frustrating for users too?
Yup , there is much difference in the search algorithm of Bing and Google.I have made a post about it on 'devils workshop' also. You can see the post that i made to know more about the search algorithm of bing. hmm gud advices from everyone.... but with all honesty if you target google and manage to rank well there, you should fairly well in most other serps. G is the toughest to dominate actually. Also, we never actually SEO optimise for ONLY google... those are basic search engine optimisation and are known to work for any search engine.
Haha! Folks, here is the BIG secret: to rank in Google, get links from sites that rank in Google. to rank in Yahoo, get links from sites that rank in Yahoo. to rank in Bing, get links from sites that rank in Bing. There's MY ebook.
Not a bad strategy. At least you're not selling the information in the ebook for such a simple strategy. One way to optimize for Bing is to make sure you have the text snippet which you want to show in the serps when a user hovers over the link at the top of the page. This is especially important for blogs where typically the first bit of content is a blog post, which is not really the most relevant information.
All I know that it is not easy to get index in Bing as well as getting backlinks. It is the same with Goole seo factor and they are checking the links.
I have found (at least for the keyword's I've been after) that if you optimize for Google the rest will follow... and typically get there faster. I'm amazed how much traffic Bing has brought to a few of my sites though... Way to go Microsoft Marketing Team...
Taken from official site. As I rank in top 5 in my niche, and is a subdomain half a year old!!! The most important thing I can tell you is keywords in title.
